Statute 65-2411: Children of unknown parentage; report to state registrar.
(a) Whoever assumes the custody of a child of unknown parentage shall
immediately report to the state registrar in writing:
(1) The date and
place of finding or assumption of custody; (2) sex, color or race and
approximate age of child; (3) name and address of the person or institution
with whom the child has been placed for care; and (4)
name given to the
child by the finder or custodian.
(b) The place where the child of unknown parentage was found
or custody assumed shall be known as the place of birth and the date of
birth shall be determined by approximation.
(c) The report shall constitute
the certificate of birth.
(d) If the child is identified and a regular
certificate of birth is found or obtained, the report shall be sealed and
filed and may be opened only by court order.
