Statute 59-29b50: Discharge of a voluntary patient.
The head of a treatment facility shall discharge any voluntary
patient whose treatment in the facility is determined by the head of the
treatment facility to have reached maximum benefit. Prior to the discharge,
the head of the treatment facility shall give written notice of the date and
time of the discharge to the patient and if appropriate, to the patient's
parent, legal guardian or other person known to the head of the treatment
facility to be interested in the care and welfare of a minor patient.
