Statute 48-402: Number and rank of officers to be commissioned.
When a corps of cadets shall exceed in number eighty enlisted men,
there may be commissioned two captains, four first lieutenants (one of whom
may act as battalion adjutant and one as battalion quartermaster), and two
second lieutenants; and for each additional forty enlisted persons there may
be, in addition, one captain, one first lieutenant, and one second
lieutenant. When a corps of cadets shall exceed in number forty enlisted
persons, but not be entitled to battalion organization as above, there may be
commissioned one captain, one first lieutenant, and two second lieutenants
(one of whom may act as adjutant).
